ABOUT ME
Hi, I'm Gerard
WHERE I COME FROM
The rural area has been my home my entire life. I feel privileged to have grown up in this area and I want my children and your children to have the same opportunity’s we had growing up here. Together with my wife Sharon we have raised our four children on our block in Howard Springs where my parents raised me.
I went to Howard Springs Primary and Taminmin High schools then qualified as an auto mechanic. I worked as a local tradie and in the Northern Territory Public Service, before I went back to study law at Charles Darwin University. Since graduating I have been working for Maley’s Barristers and Solicitors, advocating and representing rural people through our Coolalinga office.
Like many people in our area when I am not working I enjoy fishing, camping, hunting, polocrosse and other sporting activities.
I’ve seen the rural area rebuild, grow and diversify over time, and I am proud to be a part of this community, through my children’s school and sporting activities, the Howard Park Reserve Committee or as President of the Litchfield Polocrosse Association.
COMMITTED TO RURAL LIFESTYLE
I am passionate about our unique rural lifestyle, which I want future generations to be able to enjoy and afford.
I am committed to getting the Territory growing again! We are only a small population so we need to work harder and smarter to make sure we can continue to live and enjoy the lifestyle we have in the rural area.
I will fight to protect our rural lifestyle, help create jobs and growth through sensible development of facilities not impacting our lifestyle.
The best way to do this is as part of a Country Liberals team led by Lia Finocchiaro.
Through my life and work experience, running a small business and my community involvement, I am well placed to advocate for the protection of our rural lifestyle whilst ensuring prosperous opportunities for Territorians.
I love the rural area and our community where people will back you when times get tough and pull together to help a mate!
